B-flat/C
Tenor Trombone
It's completely
traditional - and yet goes beyond.
Through a whole-tone valve the whole range from Bb to C can be played
with ease. In the upper register the seven- position B-slide reaches
right up to the eighth position in C. With that an equal number
of glissandi one tone higher becomes playable now. They range over
the interval of a fifth. Through the whole range whole tone to semi
tone trills are possible.
Surprisingly numerous new position combinations await your discovery.
The trombone also offers through the additional fundamental tones
C and B at slide positions 1 and 2 their octave extensions c and
B; a fact which brings with it that comfortability with the slide
for which one might otherwise recommend a quarter-size trombone
to some pupils to compensate for a short arm.
